Peer-to-Peer Program | Back-to-School Nerves?

Starting a new school year can bring excitement, uncertainty and pressure. In this two-session mini-series, students will explore practical ways to manage back-to-school nerves, make a positive start and build confidence in their interactions with teachers and peers. Through discussions and activities, students will practise conversation starters, recognize their strengths and develop a more optimistic mindset for the year ahead.

STEM | Space and Beyond

As we move through space on planet Earth, it is natural to be curious about where we are in the solar system and what else might be out there. Students will explore planets, space travel, galaxies and the mysteries of the universe. They will also investigate topics that interest them and build confidence discussing their ideas and discoveries with their classmates.

French | French Foundation

Interested in learning French words and phrases for travel and everyday situations? Students will learn practical vocabulary and phrases before practising their spoken French with one another. This course is designed for students who are still developing their French language skills and want to become more comfortable and confident speaking French.

 

French | French Advanced

This course is intended for students who already have some ability to understand and speak French. Most of the class will take place in French, with students participating in conversations about different topics. New vocabulary will be introduced throughout the discussions to help students expand their language skills and become more confident in a French-speaking environment.

Skill Development | Leader in Training

Leader in Training is designed for returning students who have participated in Park Street Education for more than one year and maintained consistent, active attendance. Students will explore leadership styles, effective speaking, how to bring out the best in others and the strategies teachers use to engage students. They will also have opportunities to observe other classes, practise their leadership skills and work toward teaching a short lesson. After completing the course, students may apply for future Junior Teacher opportunities with Park Street Education.

English | Foundation of Knowledge: Literature and the Arts

Students will explore authors, memorable quotations, literary references and Canadian artists while considering the meaning and impact of different creative works. They will then test and share their knowledge through discussions, games and Jeopardy-style quizzes. This engaging course combines learning and friendly competition while helping students build confidence expressing what they know.

Peer-to-Peer Program | Hope! What Is It Good For?

What does it mean to have hope? Although hope may feel like an emotion, it can also be understood, measured and strengthened. Through facilitated conversations and activities, students will explore the science behind hope, reflect on moments when hope felt difficult to find and discuss the people, strategies and experiences that helped them move forward.

Skill Development | Financial Confidence

Money can feel confusing, stressful and overwhelming, especially if no one has explained how it works. This course helps students understand money as a tool and explore practical topics such as saving, budgeting, banking, entrepreneurship, introductory investing, taxes, fraud prevention and planning for the future. Through interactive activities, quizzes and real-life scenarios, students will discover that financial skills can be learned and that confidence grows with knowledge and practice.

Peer-to-Peer Program | Understanding Adolescence

Adolescence can bring changes in emotions, relationships, identity and the way young people see themselves. Through age-appropriate Peer-to-Peer discussions and activities, students will learn about the adolescent brain, why emotions may sometimes feel more intense and how growing up can affect confidence, friendships and decision-making. Students will develop language for describing their experiences and explore practical strategies for managing emotions, uncertainty and change.
